During the National Council of Morena, leader Luisa María Alcalde reported on five agreed points to regulate the behavior of members who intend to run for office in the 2027 elections. These measures arose after criticism towards profiles that have allegedly carried out pre-campaign actions.
Among the rules, republican austerity stands out, prohibiting the inappropriate use of resources, armored vehicles, helicopters, or luxury clothing. Nepotism is also prohibited, as is receiving money from private individuals in exchange for benefits. Mutual respect among the membership and fraternal criticism is encouraged.
President Claudia Sheinbaum, during this event, sent a letter to Morena members highlighting the importance of honesty, humility, and simplicity in the conduct of all party members. Sheinbaum emphasized the need for closeness with the people and distancing from luxuries and ostentation.
On the other hand, emphasis was placed on the importance of establishing clear rules for the 2027 elections. Sheinbaum suggested that the party's executive committee propose these rules in compliance with electoral laws. Additionally, a campaign close to the people was advocated for, and the use of billboards and promotion of private services was prohibited.
